KK MERINDUN 1981

Klinik Kesihatan Merindun is one of the eight  rural health clinics under the jurisdiction of Lubok Antu District. The first clinic was  established  following the establishment of SALCRA-( Sarawak Land Consolidation And Rehabilitation Authority) in the year 1975,at the present locality known as Merindun. The establishment of oil palm plantation as well as the existing oil palm mill in Merindun at that period was the government's intention to  upgrade the economic status and resettle the Iban community residing along the lower third of Lemanak river to the present locality. The first to agree and to resettle in Merindun were population from Rh.Rambu, Empaling and Rh Inggol, Spelu.

The place for the first clinic manned by one Junior Hospital Assistant was provided by SALCRA. An empty partition which was part of the Fertiliser's store house was allocated for the temporary clinic. With the ascending demand for a better health care services, the present clinic was built in the year 1981 by the Health department and was then manned by one Junior Hospital Assistant, One Community nurse, one driver and one female attendant. The clinic was taken over by An Assistant Medical Officer on January,1990 and additional male attendant was also posted in the year 1993 to strenghten the work force.

Klinik Kesihatan was once a glamorous and well known rural health clinic in between 1990 and 2001. it was a model clinic for Sri Aman Division. This clinic had won several awards at state level as well as national level. It  was awarded as" the most innovative clinic"-a most remarkable award obtained during the first state competitions in 1994.

With the turn over of staffs over years since 2002, I should say the spirit of innovation, team work and initiative to maintain an institution  to be at par to a place called "Home" is at at a brink of extinction. the younger generation will not be able to answer the question of a supervisor to "Why the tradition is not inherited?" The most common answer is "that is not my job" for example to get a place well cleaned up.

Every structure is rotting away  after 10 years leaving this place!!

IS THIS STILL A SAFE PLACE TO CARRY OUT OUR ACTIVITIES?

IS IT SO DIFFICULT AND COSTLY JUST TO REMOVE THESE GROWTHS???
